The V-Taper™ Technique:
4 Simple steps to easier, safer & lower cost root canal treatments

1 - Initiate Glide-Path:

After straight line access, establish an initial Glide-Path or canal patency by taking the 10(V02) to the estimated working length.

NOTE: PATENCY
- If the 10(V02) will not go to the estimated working length due to calcification or dilaceration, use a #08 or #10 hand file to establish canal patency, then use the 10(V02). For these cases, it may be necessary to take the hand files 1-2mm long.

2 - Coronal 1/2 Shaping:

Use the 30(V10) > 25(V08) Core V-Taper™ rotary files in a crown-down technique to shape the coronal or top half of the canal.

NOTE: REMOVE DENTINAL TRIANGLE - Use an upward brushing motion on the outer wall of the canal to remove the dentinal triangle. This upward brushing motion will also reduce the need for orifice openers such as Gates Glidden burs.

3 - Final Glide-Path:

Complete shaping the Glide-Path by taking the 10(V04) > 10(V06) to the working length. Confirm working length with an apex locator and/or radiograph.

4 - Apical 1/2 Shaping:

Use the 30(V10) > 25(V08) > 20(V06) Core V-Taper™ rotary files in a crown-down technique to shape the apical or bottom half of the canal. In many cases, only the 30(V10) or 30(V10) > 25 (V08) will be needed for the apical 1/2 shaping. Take each file to resistance and use an upward brushing motion, then move to the next file. Repeat the series as needed.

Most root canals are completed using only 2-3 rotary files with the Guidance V-Taper™ rotary system.
