Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the difference between Bond-1® and Bond-It!®?

A: Bond-1® is our 5th generation dentin/enamel adhesive system, a one step bonding kit. Bond-It!® is our 4th generation dentin/enamel adhesive system, a 2 part, primer A and primer B adhesive kit. Both Bond-1® and Bond-It!® get basically the same results, the difference is your preference. The main difference is that Bond-1® takes fewer steps and is more economical to use than Bond-It!®

Q: Is it recommended to completely dry the tooth after etching?

A: After etching, don't overdry the tooth! Bond-1® relies on the moisture present on the tooth to allow penetration into the dentin. If you overdry the tooth, the demineralized dentin collagen collapses and prevents the Bond-1® penetration. Sensitivity and poor bond strength may result. So just lightly blot the tooth dry, leaving a visible film of moisture on the surface.

Q: Is it important to blow dry before light curing?

A: Yes, Bond-1® contains a solvent which must be volatilized before it is light cured, so you must dry it thoroughly. However, if you blow too hard, you may actually remove the Bond-1® from the tooth. We recommend that you hold your air syringe 2-3 inches from the tooth surface and blow very gently on the tooth. Dry for 10 seconds to be sure you volatilize all the solvent, but keep it gentle so as not to disturb the resin.

Q: Can Bond-1® be used to bond amalgam?

A: Bond-1® in combination with AmalgaCure® can be used to bond amalgam. See instructions: Bonding Amalgam to Tooth Structure.

Q: Why does Bond-1® cost less than other products?

A: Our exclusive agreement with Pentron® Clinical Technologies allows to offer their products at direct from the manufacturer prices. It is also in Synca Direct's philosophy to offer the best value possible for our products.

Q: What is Bond-1®'s shelf life?

A: If kept at room temperature, a bottle of Bond-1® has a shelf life of 2 years. If refrigerated, you can add 6 months to that.
