Evaluations
*A critical Evaluation
of a fifth generation dentin adhesive.

Dr. Karl Leinfelder DDS, MS conducted an
in-vitro study* on Bond-1® and its ability
to bond dentin and to generate a hybridized
zone between the resin primer and the underlying
dentin.
Here are the conclusions of
his study:
From the results of this study it
is apparent that the fifth generation dentin
adhesives certainly have the same potential
as the fourth generation dentin bonding
systems. Specifically, like their predecessors,
these newer agents are fully capable of
forming a well-defined hybrid zone. Furthermore,
they also can produce extensive penetration
into the intertubular and peritubular dentin.
The excellent diffusion potential can probably
be attributed to the elEvated level of acetone
in the primer.
The results of the shear bond strength
tests revealed that the level of adhesion
for Bond-1® is quite high. Furthermore,
the low standard of deviation values associated
with the test results strongly indicate
a high level of consistency. The overall
effectiveness of the bonding agent for diffusing
into the dentin and forming a well-defined
hybridized zone is demonstrated by means
of scanning electron microscopy.

Highest rating [+++++
out of 5]
In a study conducted
by the Dental Advisor Plus, 16 consultants
used Bond-1® in over 720 procedures
for Evaluation purposes. The testing was
done over a 3 month period. Bond-1®
was given a 96%, excellent rating
by the doctors and assistants who used it
during this Evaluation.
The general conclusions of the testing were
that Bond-1® is a simple product, easy
to integrate in procedures. In a market
where most 5th generation adhesives are
alike, a comment pointed out the fact that
Bond-1® is less expensive than the others
in its category.

*Effect of
a single component adhesive system on microleakage
at the amalgam/tooth interface.,

Here are the conclusions produced by
this research:
Restorations placed in preparations
lined with Bond-1® / AmalgaCure®
exhibited significantly less leakage than
did restorations placed with a cavity varnish
(copal resin).
Bond-1® / AmalgaCure® has
the potential for serving succesfully as
a cavity liner with amalgam restorations
to reduce microleakage.
